From the earliest memories of my childhood, the silhouette of a hat has always hovered above my brow, steadfast and familiar. The ritual began with gentle hands coaxing a sunhat onto my head before heading to the park for a little home run derby, bombing down Mission Ridge Rd., having that protection from the sun after every event in and around the lake, river, ocean, or pool, and continued with the ceremonial donning of a beanie against the bitter elements of the Tahoe Basin. As I grew, so did my collection—caps, buckets, beanies, you name it—all chosen with care, each one a testament not merely to style, but to a way of life shaped by motion and mindfulness.
